Course content
1. Role of preventive conservation in protecting collections in modern museums. Ethical standards. 2. The current legislation. Basic literature. History of the field. Professional associations and important work in the country. Health at work with collections. 3. Effects of temperature and humidity/moisture on the collections. 4. The effects of optical radiation on materials collection 5. Effects of solid, liquid and gaseous contaminants at the materials collection 6. Causes and consequences of biological attack collections. The impact of humans. 7. Protection of collections during the presentation, storing and transport. 8. Specifics of preventive protection of articles according to their material nature. 9. Specifics of preventive protection of articles according to their material nature. 10. Protection of collections in crisis. 11. The use of substitutes as the possibility of preservation of the collections. The specifics use of standard and digital copies of the originals. 12. Indicators of effectiveness of preventive conservation in museum.
