Course content
Computer - basic terms and working principles. Von Neumann computer scheme. History and computer generations. Computer platforms. Mainboards and chipsets - from the history to contemporary state, the main computer architectures (chipsets platforms). Processors - historical view and contemporary state, main features of each development stage, processor's classification according to the computer type (desktop, notebook etc.) Memories in PC - historical view and contemporary state (f.i. main features, slot types etc.). Computer buses - types and development. Graphical cards - development from history to the present day (f.i. main features, slot types etc.). External buses - the development overview of types and parameters. Disk drives - types and working principles, development and overview of present state. Optical drives - the overview of types, parameters and performance up to present-day. Computer monitors - historical overview, basic types and working principles, contemporary state summary.
